This course will be of particular benefit to all education professionals who are in a leadership role or preparing for a leadership role.
Coaching is a type of leadership style. It involves helping clients to see themselves, others and the world around them in new ways. The coaching process can be used in a variety of situations including, lesson observation feedback, coaching and mentoring colleagues as well as students.
This course introduces participants to the coaching process through a step by step series of sessions designed to bring all the components of coaching together. Each element of the coaching cycle will be modelled then practiced by the participants over the 4 sessions.
This course lasts for 5 weeks, each session 4.00pm-6.00pm.

• Establishing the learning triad in coaching
Parts 1 and 2 of the coaching cycle
• Exploring problems and opportunities
• New perspectives and ownership
Parts 3 and 4 of the coaching cycle
• Creating a new scenario
• Choosing goals
Parts 5 and 6 of the coaching cycle
• Planning for action
• Implementing change and monitoring
Before session 5, all participants will be expected to have undertaken sessions as a coach and produce a written analysis.
