Our Organization.

PLELA embraces Lancashire and any other partnership wishing to join us.

Any school may join by assigning (and displaying) the LELA CHARTER, espousing our key underpinning principles.

We are part of a federated body.

To ensure ownership in each partnership, and to secure a balance between the consistency of quality and the flexibility to meet local need, LELA is composed of several local, self-governing “Chapters”. Currently, these are focused:

  • The East Lancashire Schools’ Support Alliance
  • The East Lancashire Inclusion Partnership
  • The Preston Teaching School Alliance
  • Chorley and South Ribble partnership
  • West Lancashire.

Each appoints a LELA Executive Lead who liaises with the membership of their partnership in order to:

  • Define leadership development needs and how these might be best met;
  • Communicate these to, and consider responses with the LELA Course Provider;
  • Agree dates, venues and booking deadlines;
  • Circulate the resulting LELA “offer” to the partnership;
  • Securing a named LELA “contact” in each school;
  • Arranging regular contact with each and periodic consultation and briefing meetings for all;
  • Monitor and respond as necessary to the take-up before the deadlines close;
  • Work with other LELA colleagues to evaluate impact and communicate this as needed;
  • Identify possible “new” trainers (who would then be coached in preparation for their role).

 

All provision is jointly badged under LELA and the relevant Alliance/Partnership that commissioned it and is promoted by the Alliance’s Executive Lead.

 

The Partnership/Alliance Executive Leads meet termly to:

  • Consider the effectiveness of the programmes run to date;
  • Compare notes on forthcoming or proposed activity to avoid clashes;
  • Consider whether “sharing” courses might be cost-effective;
  • Sharing insights into perceived, emerging needs.

 

The Board of Directors of LELA is the LASSH Strategic Overview Group, comprising the Heads of Alliances/Partnerships, NLEs and Senior LA Advisers. Its role is to offer a strategic direction for the Leadership Academy to ensure it meets, as far as possible, all Lancashire’s needs.
